This morning I finally had my first class here in London. It was Comparative Politics of the Middle East and started at 11.
I woke up at 11:15.
I stared at my watch in shock for a few seconds, thinking to myself, No, no I cannot be sleeping through my first class of the academic year and my first class in the UK ever. I threw on clothes and didn't even brush my teeth or hair but ran to class (I think I got ready in under two minutes, no joke), where I opened the door to the room, saw an empty chair in the back, and made a beeline for it. Luckily I don't think it was that big of a deal that I was 20 minutes late...I say this knowing that there was absolutely no way that my incredibly delayed entry was inconspicuous.
Anyway, nothing too much of note to say of the class, pretty standard first day stuff. However, I was very elitist-ly amused by the huge stress placed upon being sure to do both of the weekly readings. For next week they total 42 pages. I go to Swarthmore, bring it on QMUL, you ain't got nothing I'm scared of.
